“What is the Breast Researchers Association?”

The ‘Breast Researchers Association’ was founded in 1996 when two associations, ‘Body Culture Association’, established in 1991, and the ‘Breast Science Association’, established in 1993, were merged into one association. The two associations’ research focused mainly on women’s bodies and breasts from different perspectives and worked on various issues which surround human physical and mental wellbeing.

The ‘Breast Researchers Association‘ was established with the aim to enable multidisciplinary research which includes sociology and humanities study on the social and cultural issues surrounding human ‘body’ and ‘mind’ as well as medical and biological research.

The Breast Researchers Association covers a diverse range of multicultural topics relating to ‘bodies’ and ‘minds’, including the physical changes to body such as puberty, pregnancy, childbirth, and menopause. These issues are not restricted to one sex, but need to broaden to gender-free standpoints nowadays. The members of Breast Researchers Association are composed of many different fields such as medical science, biology, cultural-anthropological science and psychological fields. In addition, the Breast Researchers Association has expertise for clothing design and art. We encourage interdisciplinary collaboration between different fields to exchange information and discussions, through broadening and deepening the mutual understanding within their respective fields.
